These workshops are designed to introduce young actors to the skills required to create a professional-grade performance.

Using theater exercises, scene work and monologues, participants learn to
 develop characters, improve focus, and gain performance and audition skills. These workshops focus on collaboration & storytelling and still have all the creative fun!

All in all, we are moving your child into the level of "Professional actor."

If your child has never taken an acting workshop before, these programs are a great introduction to the world of the performing arts.  Or, even if your child has already had some training, this is still an exciting opportunity to continue growing their skills!

Acting 1-2-3
For ages 8-12

This on-camera course focuses on film & television and specific tools used in the medium.  Participants will work on monologues, scenes, learning film terminology, and understanding how a set works. In this workshop, actors have the opportunity to watch playback of their work and get feedback from the coach on a weekly basis.

The follow-up to Acting on Camera focuses on cold-reading on-camera audition techniques. Teen Actors will experience auditioning for roles in film and television scripts, and will review taped work at the end of every workshop day.

Denise Stout has worked as a Teaching Artist and Acting Coach, since 2000 in Chicago. Denise studied at St Joseph’s University in Philadelphia from 1968 -1972 at the Cap and Bells Shakespeare Theater.

Her work with the Garrison Forrest Theater in Baltimore was her first experience in teaching children’s drama in 1977-1980. Taking time off to raise four children, she conducted a one woman show for 20 years. She returned to acting with The Children’s Theater of Western Springs in 2000 in Scrooge, The Musical.
At the local, Community Players in Hinsdale, she performed with all the Summer Musicals for 10 years as an artist-in-residence.

Continuing her career with Voice Over Projects with Tyndale House Bible Series while she improved her teaching, acting and voice over skills with Chicago Actors Studio since 2010.

Acting in summer musicals with BAM Theater in Hinsdale, Denise recently worked with hundreds of young actors in Grease and West Side Story.
Denise can also be found doing interactive storytelling at many children’s programs. As an actress, her resume includes films, commercials and stage credits. She finds the imaginations of children the most stimulating and enjoyable with which to work!

She loves her six grandchildren who she sincerely believes that story telling develops creative minds and confidence in all who explore their dreams.
